About the Bradgate Team

The Bradgate Team Parish is a Church of England (Protestant) parish serving the churches of Ratby, Groby and Newtown Linford.
Bradgate is situated a few miles North West of the city of Leicester in the English Midlands.  In Medieval times, Bradgate was a wealthy manor, associated with two Queens of England, Elizabeth Woodville and Lady Jane Grey. The manor encompassed the villages of Ratby, Bradgate, Groby and Whittington. The De Ferrers and Grey families held the land for many centuries, and were first created Marquis of Dorset, later Earls of Stamford.

Bradgate Parish today

Today, Bradgate is a group of prosperous villages lying on the fringes of Leicester. The main settlements are Ratby, Groby and Newtown Linford. Whittington and Bradgate villages have disappeared. There is still much evidence of the earlier history of the area in a variety of old buildings and landscape features. The public may enjoy Bradgate Park, an old country park of great natural beauty extended to its present size in 1500. The total population of the parish is about 14,000.

The Bradgate Team Parish aims to serve the Christian needs of the parish, and to spread the Word of God to all the residents. There is a team of Ordained Priests, regular services are held in the three parish churches, and there are Christian Groups which meet in the villages. Local people, visitors and new residents are always welcome to get in touch with us or attend church services.

The wider Anglican Church

The Bradgate Team is part of the Anglican Diocese of Leicester
in the Church of England's province of Canterbury.
The Church of England is a part of the worldwide Anglican Communion of churches.
