£10 challenge - 'Talent'
In support of the challenge, David Collins has compiled a booklet with 'Talent' as the theme. It is a mixed bag of items looking at talent in a serious, quirky, practical, funny, interesting way. The books are priced at £1 and are available from the table at the back of church. The target is to try and sell 100 copies before the end of September. Thankyou for your support.
£10 challenge photographs
If at all possible could you take photographs of part or all of the challenge you have undertaken for a display in church at Harvest. Anyone wanting to hand in their photos before October can give them to David or Brenda Willis.
New music group
In the coming months hopefully you will see our new music group develop as we play during the Worship for All services on the first Sunday of each month. Click here to find out more about us.
All people interested in joining in with the group are welcome, please contact Rebecca Banner.
Churchwatch at St Philip and St James
'Churchwatch' may initially seem like a rota of hardy volunteers who open up and take care of a church so passeers by can drop in or not as can be the case . . . But actually it is so much more than that.
Churchwatch volunteers give up a couple of hours of their time to open up God's House to people who may be in need; in need of some space, a moment of quiet in our busy world or maybe to be able to call in to light a candle, look in a book of remembrance or simply to feel closer to God.
Some people may call in knowing they don't need a reason but they will find a warm welcome, a smiling face to break the quietness of their silent day. Of course other visitors ar emuch more purposeful; they are researching their family tree, looking for a long lost grave, a place for a future wedding or information on how to arrange a baptism.
During the time there are no visitors the person on duty has the great honour of having the church building to themselves, time to look in awa at what is around them, pray for the person that has just left, imagine what has happened through the centuries in the building or simply have time to spend with God themselves.
We would like to open Ratby church to visitors, initially every Saturday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm. Do you think being a 'churchwatcher' could be part of your ministry to the wider community? If so please give your name to Sue Hooper.
Contact details of church members are not generally published on this web site. This information is available from the parish directory. Contact details of the clergy and readers can be found on the 'About us' page.
