In support of the challenge, David Collins has compiled a booklet with 'Talent' as the theme. It is a mixed bag of items looking at talent in a serious, quirky, practical, funny, interesting way. The books are priced £1 and are available from the table at the back of church. The target is to try and sell 100 copies before the end of September. Thank you for your support.

Update on the future of Ratby Rectory, a message from the Diocese of Leicester

Last year the decision was taken to relocate the Rectory to a new site in Ratby. Although the former Rectory is a significant property set in extensive grounds, it is in need of considerable repair and improvement. The necessary upgrade was set to be a large financial outlay for the diocese, and furthermore a house of this size imposes a big financial burden on the incumbent in terms of furnishing, decorating, heating and maintenance. A more suitable modern new Rectory that is more economical to run is currently being built in an appropriate location in Ratby Village.

The diocesan housing committee has taken the decision to put the old Rectory on the market, having first sought planning permission for a modest residential development in the grounds. Appropriate consultations with the Local Planning Authority will now take place following up our preliminary discussions with them, and when possible, these proposals will be shared with the Church family and wider village community.

Now the long term future of the building has been decided, a tenant will be sought for the house during the period before it is ready to go on the market. This is standard procedure in the diocese, both to maximise resources for the housing budget, and as the best way of ensuring security and basic maintenance. It should be emphasised that the diocese will not be spending money on the house at this point other than any essential structural repairs or for health and safety requirements.

Deanery Confirmation Service

This year’s confirmation service for the Sparkenhoe East Deanery is scheduled to take place on the afternoon of Sunday 7th November. Within the Bradgate Team we are planning to run preparation sessions beginning in September, which would allow candidates to be confirmed at this special service.

Confirmation is open to both adults and young people, and we will be running separate sessions for each group.  If you have an interest to explore the idea of being confirmed, please contact either Revd Peter (239 4606) or Louise (231 3090)

St Philips and St James’ Young People need your help!

Our Sunday morning 10+ group (Glow Worms) continues to grow as more children move up from the light house group.  We now have a wide age range of young people in the group and therefore we are creating a new 14+ group to run alongside Glow Worms on a Sunday morning.

To do this we need more leaders\ helpers each Sunday.   If you feel you could help out on a one off or more regular basis, please speak to Justin and Serena Garratt.

The Youth of our Church really appreciate your help and advice as they start their walk with Jesus.

This week, please pray for:

Please pray for the various events and responsibilities in the life of our church
