Who’s Who

This page is still under construction.

Have you heard of people at church, but don't know who they are?  Who would you like to see here?  Please contact us, and let us know.

Richard Worsfold
Team Vicar

Anne Stratton
Curate

I am the part time Curate for the Bradgate Team Parish. That means that I am still training to do all the things that incumbents do - which can take up to 4 years, I started my Curacy in July 2006.
I do the role voluntarily as I  have paid work running the Citizens Advice Bureau in Coalville 4 days a week. In addition I sit as a magistrate on the Ashby Bench.
I live in Whitwick with my husband Roy, we have 2 boys one at university and the other just starting teaching in Braunstone. It can sometimes be awkward not living in the Parish - but I think my car can probably get there by itself by now!
I have a garden which is too big to manage successfully in the time
available, but I still seem to be better at it than God, who looks after it most of the time and lets the weeds grow!
I love parties, being with people and helping when and where I can, which probably shows in the jobs I do.

 Joan Hawkins
Churchwarden

I have lived in Ratby for over 20 years with my husband Tony.  I have 3 sons and a daughter and lots of lovely grandchildren.
I have worked in the health service for 32 years, my professional background is in nursing. I worked on the oncology wards at the LRI and then as a District Nursing Sister for some years, I became a clinical practice teacher then went off to do a Masters Degree in public sector management and since then have worked on service improvement and project management.
I think my Christian beliefs have always influenced the work that I have tried to do in the NHS.
I understand that I am the first female churchwarden at Ratby Church (hopefully not the last!). I very much appreciate the friendship and support that I have received from our church family and I have been proud to represent them as church warden (even if I don't know any thing about boilers and heating systems!!!)

Sandra Slater
Verger

Hello, my name is Sandra.  I have been verger of Ratby church for about twenty years.

In 2000 I started a photographic record of the church restoration and improvements.  (Our next major projects are the installation of toilets and paths.)

Francis Fisher
Tower Captain

The main job of the tower captain is to organise the actual ringing for Sunday Services, practice nights, and to arrange ringers for weddings. The other main function is to act as contact for parishioners, especially for the Vicar/Priest/Curate, and advise on any bell ringing matters, or visits to the tower, to see the bells etc.
My wife, Pamela, and I moved to Leicestershire from Peterborough in August 1987, and it was in the autumn of that year that we both became regular visitors to the Ratby tower. We became full members of the Ratby band in December 2000, and I became tower captain in June/July 2003.
Away from ringing I am interested in watching sport, mainly football, rugby union, and cricket, and am a season ticket holder down at Leicester Tigers. I hope all the Midlands/England teams do well in their particular fields. I am also interested in politics/current affairs, and also like to do a fair bit of walking. On the food front I am not very adventurous preferring traditional old-fashioned English food, and am very partial to the odd drop of real ale.
